“Look deep into nature, and then you will understand’
Albert Einstein, Physicist
The skies and land are so enormous, and the detail so precise and exquisite that
wherever you are you are isolated in a glowing world between the macro and the micro.

Statement: These abstract, flowing 'landscapes' , staged in the studio, draw our attention to the biological and geographical systems that are essential for our survival. Crossing the micro and macro they invite us to consider how our living cells and fluid bodily systems only exist due to the water cycle that supports life on earth over a huge scale and which in turn is part of the biosphere ecological system that includes all living creatures and their relationships, including their interactions with the lithosphere (land), hydrosphere (water), and atmosphere (air). Intimate Landscapes were shot on the table-top tableau of natural and domestic materials (leaves, food dyes and jelly) on 35mm film, with a close-up lens.
