Liminal Landscapes, 2021-present
In the studio I use everyday materials to 'find' landscapes. Outside I seek out liminal and threshold places for the camera's lens. In the context of art, "liminal" refers to the representation or exploration of spaces, states, or conditions that exist in-between two defined or fixed places, identities, or states of being. The term "liminal" is derived from the Latin word limen, meaning "threshold." Liminality captures the sense of transition, ambiguity, and uncertainty—things that are neither here nor there, but exist in a space between. This can apply to physical spaces, psychological states, or moments of change.

Liminal
Photographic Print on Hahnemühle Bamboo, 2021
500mm x395mm
Edition of 15 & 1 A/P.
Shot on film thirty years ago and recently made into a photograhic print.
Liminal spaces have always intrigued me and I like how the colour film in the camera has captured this landscape with the pale pink connecting the sea and sky, and the rocks seeming to float towards us away from the high energy of the waves.
